About with a photo

A scholarly tradition, kept deliberately unfashionable

Kanchenjunga Collegiate School was founded in 1974 in Kupondole, Lalitpur, built to offer demanding academic scholarship paired with traditional collegiate discipline. Fifty-two years later we still teach with the same intellectual rigor, and we still read the roll aloud every morning.

The house system, the prefects, the Saturday lecture and the leaving examination have all survived. What changed is everything behind them: modern digital laboratories, a dedicated computing block, and an experienced faculty of ninety-two.

What families say

My father sat his leaving examination in that hall in 1981. My daughter sat hers in the same room last Poush. Very little needed to be explained to either of them.
The Saturday tutorials are hard on a fifteen-year-old and I complained about them for a year. She got a distinction in additional mathematics, so I have stopped.

Reviews — one large quote

In their words

“I came in Grade 6 knowing nobody. By Ashad I was in Kumbhakarna house, on the debating side, and unable to walk across the quadrangle without being stopped.”

The basic building blocks

A block of writing is for anything the designed sections do not cover — a notice, a policy, a letter to parents. It takes bold, italics, links and lists, and sits in Kanchenjunga Collegiate School’s own type.

Below it: a picture with a caption, a row of buttons and a line to separate one thing from the next.
