The college

Two years, and everything pointed at whatcomes after

Lhotse International College takes students for two years only — Grades 11 and 12, A-Levels or NEB — and organises everything around the fact that they are leaving. University counselling begins in the first fortnight, not the last term.

A hundred and ninety of our three hundred and ten students live in college. The evening is the real timetable: supervised prep, subject seminars, the Thursday guest, and a tutor who reads your personal statement more times than you would like.

  • Counselling from week oneUniversity guidance starts in the first fortnight of Grade 11.
  • The evening timetableSupervised prep, seminars and the Thursday guest, six days a week.
  • Residential by designTwo-thirds of the college lives in, and the day students keep the same evening.

Beyond the classroom

The evening

Prep and seminars

Prep and seminars

Six evenings a week, in college

Two hours of supervised prep followed by a subject seminar of eight. Day students attend on the same terms. It is the reason the teaching day can be as short as it is.

Someone who did the thing you are considering

An alumna reading medicine in Melbourne, a hydropower engineer, a Supreme Court advocate, a founder. Forty minutes and then questions, most of them about what they would do differently.

From the college

They started talking about universities in his second week. I thought it was too early. His offer came in Mangsir of Grade 12.

Come to an evening, not an open day

Prep at six, a seminar at eight, and a Thursday guest if you time it right. That is the college; the daytime is only half of it.
