Lhotse International College takes students for two years only — Grades 11 and 12, A-Levels or NEB — and organises everything around the fact that they are leaving. University counselling begins in the first fortnight, not the last term.
A hundred and ninety of our three hundred and ten students live in college. The evening is the real timetable: supervised prep, subject seminars, the Thursday guest, and a tutor who reads your personal statement more times than you would like.

A-Levels or NEB, chosen before entry, taught in parallel and counselled identically.
Four subjects, seminar-taught, with the extended project and the first university shortlist.
Three subjects to A2, applications, interviews and the admissions-test programme.
Science or Management, with the same evening prep and the same counselling office.
Board examinations alongside entrance coaching for medical, engineering and CMAT.

Prep and seminars
Two hours of supervised prep followed by a subject seminar of eight. Day students attend on the same terms. It is the reason the teaching day can be as short as it is.
The Thursday guest
An alumna reading medicine in Melbourne, a hydropower engineer, a Supreme Court advocate, a founder. Forty minutes and then questions, most of them about what they would do differently.
They started talking about universities in his second week. I thought it was too early. His offer came in Mangsir of Grade 12.

Prep at six, a seminar at eight, and a Thursday guest if you time it right. That is the college; the daytime is only half of it.
